How to create an animated GIF image

Today when you go to any website you can see some animated pictures there. These pictures are extensioned as .gif. Actually a .gif picture is a collection of pictures and these pictures are repeated on a specific interval of time. It is not hard to create an animated .gif image. I will show you how you can create an animated .gif file easily and freely on your computer. To create professional looking image you will need two following softwares and these two softwares are totally free to download and use.

  • Inkscape.

  • Pencil or any other software that creates .gif files.

To create an animated .gif image you need a set of images and to create this set of images we use Inkscape. First of all download and install Inkscape and then start it. You will see something like this :


          And now make visible the grids by View -> Grid. Now zoom in the draw area by pressing the Ctrl key and rotating the mouse wheel or the same can be done using the + button on the NumberPad of the keyboard. Now it becomes like this :


          Now draw a rectangle by selecting the rectangle box in the toolbox on the left side and manager its colors and brightness by pressing Ctrl+Shift+F like this :


          Now draw texts on the rectangle and then save the image. You can convert your drawing into an image by going to File -> Export Bitmap. Now fade the color of texts and save the image using a different name and agian fade the color text and save the image. Do this until the color of text becomes the same as that of the background rectangle. Something like this :



          And the final image comes like this one. This is a .swf file. There are a number of softwares on the internet available to convert a set of images into an animated image file.
